How To Delete Downloads From Your Mac
Movies take a lot of space on a hard drive -- over 5 GB for some HD feature films -- so it's a good idea to delete one from the Media folder if you're sure you won't want to watch it again. If the movie is accessible in iTunes, you can use iTunes to delete the file from your hard drive. If you don't use iTunes, you can use your Mac's Finder to locate the file and delete it.
Deleting Movies in iTunes
1.Launch iTunes on your Mac, and click the 'Library' button in the upper left corner. By default, the button usually shows 'Music.' Change it to 'Movies.'
2.Select the appropriate tab where the movie appears in iTunes, such as 'Movies' or 'Home Videos.' To see all of the movies in iTunes, click the 'List' tab.
3.Select the movie by clicking it once and then pressing the 'Delete' key. A dialog box opens, asking if you want to keep the file on your hard drive or move it to the trash. Select 'Move to Trash' to delete it from its folder on the hard drive.
4.Drag the mouse to the bottom of the screen to launch the Dock. Place the mouse over the 'Trash' icon. Hold the 'Control' button, and click the 'Trash' icon. Select 'Empty Trash.' Click 'Empty Trash' in the confirmation dialog box that appears. The movie is permanently deleted from its folder, and its space is now available on the hard drive.
Deleting Movies in Finder
1.Launch a new Finder window by clicking the 'Finder' icon in the Dock. Alternatively, click any empty area on the desktop and select 'New Finder Window' from the Finder menu at the top of the screen.
2.Navigate to your Media folder in the Finder window, and select the movie file you want to delete. If you know the name of the movie file, type it in the 'Search' field in the upper right corner of the Finder window and then select it.
3.Select the 'All My Files' option in the Favorites section of the left menu if you don't remember the name of the movie file. This option shows you a thumbnail image and file name of every movie file. Click anywhere in the Movie section, and then scroll through the movies by dragging the mouse right and left.

Tips
- Deleting files does not make room on the hard drive until you have emptied the trash.
- Back up files to an external drive or USB flash drive if you're not certain that you will want it again. Once you delete a file and empty the trash, it's essentially gone for good.
